How Louisiana Barndominium Builders Works

Louisiana Barndominium Builders designs and builds barndominiums, metal building homes and shop houses on land across the state. Barndominiums in Louisiana usually go up on rural or edge-of-town parcels, where the questions that matter most are not the paint color of the steel. They are: how high does the floor have to sit, what wind load does the frame need to carry, will the parish sanitarian approve a septic system here, and how do we keep a steel building dry inside when the outdoor dew point is in the upper 70s.

How we work

  • We walk the land first. Access, drainage, trees, standing water and where the slab or piers will go.
  • We research the parish. Louisiana builds under a statewide code based on the 2021 International Residential Code, but flood maps, freeboard, sewage ordinances and permit steps differ by parish.
  • We price in writing, line by line. Site work, foundation, building package, insulation, mechanical, finish-out and allowances are listed separately.
  • We plan for heat, humidity, termites and wind. Condensation control, HVAC sizing and uplift connections are part of the design, not afterthoughts.
  • We keep one schedule. Site prep, shell, dry-in and finish-out are sequenced so you know what happens next.
